How it Started

Hola! I’m Marisa! Mama, maker, and founder of Pocketful of Daisies.
When my second child was born, I found myself searching for a special way to reconnect with my oldest. That’s when we stumbled into the magical world of sensory play. Side by side, we began mixing and molding dough at our kitchen table. Just the two of us, laughing, dreaming, & creating. I became a little obsessed with perfecting the dough we made. Once my daughter and her friends started requesting more of my homemade dough over storebought, I knew we had created something special.

The Meaning Behind Our Name

Why “Pocketful of Daisies”?

The name Pocketful of Daisies was inspired by two simple but powerful ideas:

“Pocketful” represents a little space full of treasures—a place where imagination, creativity, and play are always within reach. Just like children carry their favorite small things in their pockets, our products are designed to fit into their world, sparking endless opportunities to explore and create.

“Daisies” symbolize childhood innocence, growth, and joy. Daisies are bright, cheerful flowers that remind us of the carefree spirit of children and the natural blossoming of their creativity and dreams.

Together, Pocketful of Daisies means a special place filled with joyful, creative tools and toys that nurture children’s imaginations as they grow, helping them play, learn, and dream about the many occupations and possibilities their futures hold.

Like flowers picked by tiny hands and tucked lovingly into pockets, our offerings are simple yet full of wonder, made to celebrate the little moments that bloom into big ideas.

The Meaning Behind Dough to Be

I believe childhood is a magical time full of wonder, imagination, and the boundless potential to dream big. I created Dough to Be not just as a fun handmade play dough, but as a meaningful tool for inspiring little hands and hearts to explore the endless possibilities of who they can become. The name "Dough to Be" is a playful twist on the phrase "meant to be", because I know that every child holds the power to shape their own future. Just like our soft pliable dough they mold, their dreams and aspirations are flexible and ever-changing, ready to take form in countless and beautiful ways. 

Through play, I hope to spark curiosity, confidence, and dreams in children everywhere — because the world needs more little dreamers who believe they can grow up to be anything they imagine.

My greatest inspiration in life are my children and the beauty, strength, and power us humans have. Children are the future. We can make a positive impact, and encourage them to create, play, and dream.
